Dietary Advice
2_2_1_9_panthothetic_373x100.jp
The virtues of maintaining a balanced diet, with a good mix of protein, dairy, carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables, are well documented. Complex carbohydrates such as wholegrains, vegetables and fruit are great foods to help achieve long lasting energy, as they release energy slowly throughout the day.

Top Tip:
  • Avoid fast releasing carbohydrates such as sugar and refined foods. They give a sudden energy boost followed by a slump. If you need an afternoon snack to perk you up opt for an energising banana or a fruit smoothie.
Include Breakfast!

We know, you've heard it before. But still about 30 per cent of adults aged 18-35 don't bother with breakfast - even though it is the most important meal of the day with regards to energy. During the night your metabolism slows down so you need a boost when you get up. How can you expect to be sprightly and sharp when you haven't eaten for 12 hours?

Top tip:
  • If limited time is your excuse, there are plenty of healthy foods that can be bought on your way to work and eaten at your desk - fruit, cereal, yoghurt, muffins or even a tuna sandwich.

Fruit Power

Start the day with a delicious natural energy drink. Mix one banana, one mango, five strawberries and 150ml milk or small carton of low fat yoghurt. Add 1tbsp of rolled oats and mix in a blender. You can make it the night before to save time in the morning.
Fight Fatigue with Superfoods
OK, so they might not sound that delicious on their own, but it´s thought by many that incorporating a few into your diet can help you fight fatigue.

Garlic - contains germanium a mineral that improves the body's energy production. Garlic also contains over ten antioxidants which help maintain the immune system. Don't be put off by the smell afterwards, chewing a bit of parsley will soon sort that out!

Broccoli - this vegetable is stocked with beta-carotene, vitamin C, antioxidants as well as iron, which is essential for vitality and can beat fatigue

Grapes - this cleansing fruit can have a stimulating effect on the body's regenerative powers and is very effective in combating stress and fatigue
